Difference Between Day Cream and Night Cream
Understanding the difference between day and night creams is key to choosing the right product for your skin’s needs. Day creams are typically designed with SPF and antioxidants to protect against sun damage and pollution. They’re lightweight, quickly absorbed, and provide hydration without leaving a greasy finish (WARDAH UV SHIELD ESSENTIAL GEL).

Night creams, on the other hand, are richer and focus on repairing and nourishing your skin. They often contain ingredients like retinol and peptides to restore and rejuvenate your skin overnight, without SPF since sun protection is unnecessary during sleep.

L'Oréal Paris Glycolic Bright Glowing Day Cream SPF17

In today’s Zen Style segment, I’m sharing my experience with L’Oréal Paris Glycolic Bright Glowing Day Cream SPF17 (50ml, RM83.00), purchased from Guardian Kota Kemuning.

After using it for five months, here’s my honest review.

Why I Chose It

L’Oréal Paris, as a trusted brand, caught my attention with its promise to brighten and reduce pigmentation. While my pigmentation is mild, prevention is always my priority. The packaging was appealing and sturdy, although, like many skincare products, testers weren’t available.

At RM83.00, the price was on the higher side for me. However, I wasn’t too concerned about the lack of a spatula since I ensure clean hands before applying products.

Product Claims and Key Ingredient

The cream’s standout ingredient is glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) known for its exfoliating properties. It promises to reduce dullness and dark spots, offering visibly glowing skin. According to the brand, it’s been tested on Asian skin tones.

Glycolic acid gently removes dead skin cells, improves skin texture, and helps with brightness. However, it requires extra care with sunscreen, as it increases sun sensitivity.

Texture and Application

The cream has a mild floral scent and a medium-weight texture. Proper application involves massaging it thoroughly into the skin to avoid a white cast. Overuse can lead to dryness or irritation, as glycolic acid may cause over-exfoliation.

My Daily Routine

After cleansing and applying eye cream, I use this day cream, followed by SPF face powder. While the cream provides some sun protection with SPF17, I find it insufficient, especially for Malaysia’s intense sun exposure. Even indoors, it’s not enough to shield against the rays from artificial lighting, phones, or laptops.

Despite this, the cream keeps my skin hydrated without an oily finish and lasts all day until my evening cleanse (NIVEA ROSE CARE MICELLAR WASH GEL WITH ORGANIC ROSE WATER).

Results After Five Months

Breakouts: None - a positive outcome for my aging skin.

Hydration: Provides adequate moisture and is easy to wash off.

Brightening and Glow: No noticeable improvement.

Pigmentation: Minimal effect, if any.

Zen Style Beauty Final Thoughts

In my experience, this product didn’t deliver the results I hoped for, especially considering its price. While it provided hydration, it didn’t significantly brighten my skin or reduce pigmentation. I wouldn’t repurchase it and plan to explore more affordable options for moisturizing and brightening with better pigmentation care.

Your Decision

Before buying, assess your skin’s needs carefully and avoid relying solely on influencer reviews, as their experiences may not reflect real results.
