A Foodie's Journey in Taman Tun Dr Ismail: Unveiling the Culinary Delights of Alora Spices

Usually, my food hunting adventures take place within Kota Kemuning. However, a week ago, I had the pleasure of venturing into Taman Tun Dr Ismail after a delightful outing with a dear friend in Bukit Bintang. In search of a satisfying late lunch, we stumbled upon Alora Spices, an Indian eatery that instantly captivated us with its inviting ambiance and clean atmosphere. Join me as I recount the flavorsome experience and delectable dishes that awaited us at this hidden gem.

A Warm Welcome and Varied Menu

Upon entering Alora Spices, we were greeted by the friendly staff, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. Glancing at the menu, we were delighted to discover a wide array of dishes, as expected from an Indian eatery with such a name. Excitedly, we made our selections - the Vegetarian Thali Set, Chapati, Paal Appam, and Masala Chai.

Vegetarian Thali Set

A Wholesome Delight: Presented on a fresh banana leaf, the Vegetarian Thali Set proved to be a hearty meal, consisting of various vegetables, a choice of vegetarian curries, accompanied by pickle, papadam, and rasam. While not entirely unique compared to other Indian eateries, it was still an appreciated and satisfying meal. The combination of flavors and textures provided a delightful medley that left us content.

Chapati

A Fluffy Indulgence: One standout dish was the Chapati. Soft and generously layered with ghee, it was a true delight. Paired with the dal curry, it created a harmonious combination that pleased our palates. I couldn't resist pinching a piece from my friend's plate, and it instantly won me over. Although tempted to order another portion for myself, I decided to save room for the awaited treats - the Masala Chai and Paal Appam.

Masala Chai

A Satisfying Post-Meal Brew: While the Masala Chai didn't win any awards for its flavor, it fulfilled its purpose as a comforting and satisfying drink after a spicy meal. Its warm and aromatic notes provided a pleasant ending to our culinary journey at Alora Spices.

Paal Appam

The Crowning Glory: Amongst all the dishes we tried, the Paal Appam emerged as the undisputed winner. The caramelized brown sugar sprinkled on top added a tantalizing burst of flavor to the coconut milk-infused appam. The combination of lightness, sweetness, and richness made each bite a truly memorable experience. If I had to choose between the Thali Set, Chapati, and Paal Appam, the latter would undoubtedly be my top pick.

Alora Spices in Taman Tun Dr Ismail proved to be an exciting culinary adventure. With its inviting ambiance, extensive menu, and flavorful dishes, it left a lasting impression. While the Vegetarian Thali Set offered a satisfying and familiar experience, it was the Chapati, Paal Appam, and the overall dining experience that truly stole the show. Affordable prices made the visit even more enjoyable, although parking in the area proved to be a challenge, even on a Sunday. If you're in the mood for authentic Indian cuisine, Alora Spices should definitely be on your foodie radar.
