Chong Kok Kopitiam: Delightful Heritage Flavors

When my breakfast crew suggested heading to Klang's Chong Kok Kopitiam for another morning feast, I, being the enthusiastic foodie, readily agreed. I heard tales of this Kopitiam being a stroll down heritage lane from years back, adding to the allure. As we negotiated the usual challenge of finding parking in Klang, we eventually secured a spot in one of the backlanes. As we crossed the road in front of Chong Kok Kopitiam, a sudden realization hit me - I've been here before. While I couldn't recall the name initially, revisiting the same eatery posed no issue.

Once inside, we made our selections from the displayed offerings - Packed Nasi Lemak/Nasi Lemak Bungkus, Packed Meehoon, half-boiled eggs, a variety of kuih-muih/local delicacies.

With our picks in hand, the next task was to find a spot to sit. The front section was already bustling with customers enjoying their choices, so we headed to the back.

When the staff arrived to take our drink orders, we opted for coffee and Hainanese toast, paired alongside kaya and butter. Butter. Our dining experience commenced, featuring Nasi Lemak, Meehoon, Pulut Inti Fluffy Apam, Karipap, and the Hainanese toast.

Personally, I found the Nasi Lemak rice a bit dry, and the sambal too spicy for my liking, although others seemed to enjoy it. The Meehoon fared decently, and the rest felt like a nostalgic treat in the well-preserved ambiance of the past. However, the coffee erred on the side of oversweet, prompting me to leave it unfinished.

The bill tallied up to RM55.00, a reasonably great deal. Overall, the highlight for me was the ambiance and the camaraderie with my breakfast crew. While the food didn't entirely win me over, though overall it was acceptable, the experience for the second time was worth a try.
