Ingredients
1 cup (250g) butter
1/3 cup (70g) caster sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 3/4 cups (200g) self-rising flour, sifted
1/2 tsp salt (omit if using salted butter)
4 tbsp milk
(Optional: 1 tbsp chocolate chips)

Method
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 340°F (170°C).

Prepare Pan
Grease a baking pan.

Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, cream butter and caster sugar until light and creamy.

Add Eggs
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the mixture is fluffy.

Add Vanilla
Stir in vanilla essence.

Fold in Flour
Gradually fold in sifted self-rising flour and (if using) until well mixed.

Add Milk and Chocolate Chips
Gently stir in milk and chocolate chips (if using).

Bake
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Slice
Remove from the oven, let the cake cool down, then slice.

1/2 cup (113g) caster sugar

2 eggs
1 1/2 tbsp milk
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla essence

Method
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 330°F (165°C).

Prepare Pan
Grease a baking pan.

Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, cream softened butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs, Vanilla, and Milk
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in vanilla essence and tbsp milk.

Fold in Flour
Sift  cake flour and gently fold it into the mixture.

Divide Batter
Divide the mixture into two equal portions.

Add Cocoa
Stir cocoa powder into one portion of the batter.

Layer the Batter
Pour the plain batter into the prepared baking pan. 
Spoon the cocoa batter on top.

Create Marble Effect
Use a knife or skewer to swirl the two batters together gently to create a marbled effect.

Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Slice
Remove from the oven, let the cake cool down, then slice.


Lemon Butter Cake
Lemon Butter Cake is a delightful combination that brings sunny brightness to every slice, perfect for enjoying at any gathering or as a special treat.

Prepared similarly to Marble Cake, this cake delights with its vibrant flavors of 1 tablespoon of lemon zest and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
