Shan Pakistan Restaurant - Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam

As always, when a new restaurant opens in Kota Kemuning, there’s bound to be a buzz in the local Facebook groups, with everyone sharing their dining experiences. Naturally, I was curious and excited to check it out. I visited Shan Pakistan Restaurant on a weekday, somewhat sceptical after reading mixed reviews on Facebook and Google Maps. However, the moment I stepped inside, it felt surreal in the best way possible - a welcoming ambiance that immediately made me feel at ease.

After perusing the menu, deciding what to order was a bit challenging, but we eventually settled on mutton biryani, aloo kebab, Shan Pakistan’s special soup, and drinks - mango lassi and carrot juice o (kosong).

While waiting, I couldn't resist checking out the food display near the entrance. The variety of Pakistani desserts was absolutely tempting. Although I refrained from indulging this time, I’m already planning a return visit for a sweet treat (LEMON BARS RECIPE). The lamb shank on display also piqued my interest, making it another reason to come back.

When the food arrived, we started with the aloo kebab. I had expected a crisp outer layer with a soft, melt-in-your-mouth inside, but these two pieces lacked the outer crispiness. Still, they didn’t disappoint. The kebabs were sizable, served hot, and paired with a mint dip.

Next up was the mutton biryani (HYDERABADI VEGETABLE BIRYANI RECIPE). The grains were cooked to the right texture, with a vibrant yellow hue and hints of orange. The mutton pieces were tender, and the spices complemented the dish well. Paired with both the mint dip and tamarind chutney, the flavors stood out - especially the tangy tamarind chutney, which added a nice zing to the biryani. The mango lassi was a thick and tangy treat, not overly sweet, and my husband enjoyed his carrot juice as well.

Since we were already full, we decided to pack the Pakistan Special Soup to take home. After adding soy sauce and chili sauce, I tried a mutton-based soup (SIMPLE AND HEARTY LAMB SOUP) like this for the first time. The addition of nuts gave it a unique twist

Zen Dining Zen Insights
Nothing can be faulted - this is why I’ve already given a 5-star rating for Shan Pakistan Restaurant on Google Maps. I truly hope they continue to grow and glow, for making our Zen Dining experience memorable and amazing. That said, to each their own - perhaps you should check it out for yourself.
