For me, traveling (KYOTO: ONSEN BARENESS) is about discovering recipes and adding my own touch to create easy meals at home. During my trips to Japan (HOKKAIDO WINTERLUST), I learned that Japanese cuisine includes many vegetarian dishes. However, replicating them exactly proved challenging, as I didn’t want to buy specific Japanese ingredients. Over the course of three months, I successfully prepared four vegetarian dishes using whatever ingredients were available at home and those I could buy without breaking the budget (OSAKA: SACRED DEER TO SKY-HIGH SUNSETS).

If you're planning a trip to Hanoi, here are the must-see attractions that will make your visit unforgettable (BANGKOK, THAILAND: THINGS TO DO).
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is one of Hanoi’s most significant landmarks, dedicated to Ho Chi Minh, the founding father of modern Vietnam. Located in Ba Dinh Square, this solemn site attracts countless visitors who come to pay their respects to the revered leader. The mausoleum houses Ho Chi Minh's body, preserved in a glass sarcophagus, and visitors must adhere to strict protocols while inside, including no photos or phones.
The surrounding area is also home to Ho Chi Minh’s Memorial Site, which includes his former stilt house and the Ho Chi Minh Museum, where you can learn more about his life and the country’s revolution. A visit to this location offers a profound insight into Vietnam’s history and the continuing legacy of Ho Chi Minh.
Easiest Egg Fried Rice Recipe with Few Ingredients
Growing up in a family with modest means, I remember how my mum put her heart into every meal she made for us. Eggs were a rare treat—hard-boiled and halved to share or stretched across scrambled eggs for the five of us. Yet, nothing could beat her simple, three-ingredient egg fried rice made with chopped garlic, eggs, and day-old rice. It's a classic that I still cherish today. (EASIEST MALAYSIAN VEGETARIAN NASI LEMAK). The memory of all of us gathered around, enjoying this humble dish, remains close to my heart. Thank you, Mum, who’s now watching from above. I love you forever.
Now, to the recipe. I’ll also share a few easy ways to elevate this fried rice with ingredients you may already have on hand. Check your fridge and pantry, and see if there’s anything you’d like to add to this easiest egg fried rice recipe. And remember, some of the best meals come from using what’s left in the kitchen (5 EASY VEGETARIAN RECIPES).

Nasi Kerabu Kelantan: Culinary Marvel
Besides the flavorful rice, the condiments served with this Malaysian dish are truly exceptional, all thanks to Ms. Nava's creativity. If you're expecting the same old Nasi Kerabu Kelantan you've had before, you might be disappointed. But if you appreciate culinary innovation (BUNGA KANTAN/GINGER TORCH RAW SALAD), you'll be applauding Ms. Nava's version.

Resepi Sambal Tumis Ikan Bilis Petai
Bunga Kantan/Ginger Torch Bud Pineapple Cucumber Salad
Don’t
you agree that cooking is all about inventing your own recipes rather than
desperately trying to replicate others'? This is my cooking philosophy. Why,
you ask? I believe in using up the ingredients I have instead of letting them
go to waste. Whether it's fresh produce I've grown or items from the fridge,
it's crucial to use them wisely. By doing so, you not only reduce waste but
also let your creativity shine as you craft your own unique dishes.
How about a raw salad? It's convenient and saves time - just prepare the ingredients, then toss and stir. However, remember that raw salads should be eaten immediately. Otherwise, they lose their crunchiness and freshness, and won't look as appealing.
Siem Reap, Cambodia: Wat Thamey/The Killing Fields
Siem Reap, a city known for its breathtaking temples and vibrant culture (AYUTTHAYA: ANCIENT CITY OF THAILAND), holds a deeper, more somber history. Beyond the grandeur of Angkor Wat (ANGKOR WAT: A TRAVEL GUIDE) lies Wat Thmey, a Buddhist pagoda that serves as a poignant reminder of Cambodia’s tragic past under the Khmer Rouge regime. Known as the "Killing Fields Pagoda," Wat Thmey stands as a memorial to the victims of the brutal Khmer Rouge era from 1975 to 1979.
Wat Thmey
Wat Thmey’s stupa houses the skeletal remains of thousands who perished during Pol Pot’s genocidal rule, which led to the loss of nearly 1.7 million lives. The bones and skulls on display inside the pagoda’s glass-encased structure serve as chilling symbols of the atrocities committed during that time. This memorial is not only a testament to the pain endured but also to the resilience of the Cambodian people who survived the darkest chapter in their nation’s history.

Malaysian Sodhi (Indian Coconut Milk Stew)
(Updated Version)
Ever heard of a golden-hued coconut milk stew? For
the Indian community in Malaysia, it's known as sodhi, a creamy, comforting
dish with a rich coconut base. Interestingly, the Malay community also has a
similar dish, masak lemak, though each has its distinct twist. But today, we’re
diving into the world of sodhi - a dish that’s as simple as
it is flavorful.

Tasty Vegetarian Recipes: Vegetarian Mutton
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s talk about vegetarian
mutton. This isn’t your typical mock or meatless product; it’s made from
mushrooms and mushroom stalks. It's a healthier alternative to many mock meats
that often contain artificial flavoring and coloring. When purchasing
vegetarian mutton, be sure to check the label for ingredients that specify it
is made from mushrooms.
I find vegetarian mutton to be a delightful option, although I don't consume it regularly to avoid overindulging. Remember, moderation is key to a healthy diet. In this post, I’ll share five effortless recipes featuring vegetarian mutton, all made from pantry-friendly ingredients.
Pucuk Ubi Masak Lemak (Tapioca leaf In Coconut Gravy)
Ever wondered
how many urban dwellers are secretly urban gardeners? Well, I’m proud to say
I’m one of them. In our little corner of the world, Nava’s Zen, we’ve created a
lush urban oasis, where veggies flourish. Okay, not all vegetables, but
certainly the ones that are easy to grow. I’m all about keeping it old-school,
growing the things people used to plant way before the city turned into the
bustling, concrete jungle it is today.
I’ve got a pretty exciting lineup in my garden: tapioca (or ubi kayu), some vibrant purple sweet potatoes (keledek), and even keladi, the purple elephant yam and also the bigger, beautiful purple kind. On top of that, I grow fresh turmeric, chillies, lemongrass, galangal, and all the aromatic herbs essential for the rich flavors of Malay cuisine. And yes, I'm a huge fan of Malay food (MALAY CHICKEN RECIPES: TEMPTING VARIETIES).
Angkor Wat, Cambodia: A Travel Guide to Temples & Sunset
Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage site (BOROBUDUR TEMPLE, INDONESIA) is an absolute must-see for any traveler. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your visit to Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples.
Getting There and What to Expect
Angkor Wat is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and is easily accessible from the city center. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance, with options for a one-day, three-day, or even a week-long pass for exploration. Most travelers opt for the one-day pass to visit the major temples.

Ikan Balado
Now, onto Ikan Balado and Ikan Balado Hijau/Ijo - the main difference lies in whether you use red chilies or green chilies (Cabe Hijau/Ijo). Indonesians also use jeruk limau (pickled lime), something my late mum used to make as well, similar to the Indian Salted Lime Pickle. Personally, I don’t think it’s a must for Indonesian savory dishes, as you can easily substitute with lime juice (KENTANG INDONESIA & TEMPE OREK).
